The more I look at this silver repurposed altered teapot, cups and decoupaged silver platter the yummy and yummier it looks to me. The more I admire my own work! But.... I so much prefer you enjoy it in your kitchen and dining room. As my objective was the creative fun and treasure hunting of the items, I made it for you. For you to accent your love for silver, teapots and cups and tea! So it's tea time! Read on to learn of the hows and what the hecks!
4 pc. ornamental tea set includes;
silver plated teapot
silver plated tray
2 glass tea cups.
The knob on the top of the hinged lid is actually an upside down glass salt shaker. I securely affixed an authentically old vintage button on the flat surface of the shaker(It does have a couple stones missing, but I think that gives it aged character. This feature of the glass knob is added height as well as the glass bowl on the bottom. Once again to give it even more presence and added stature.
Glass teardrops are spaced evenly around the vintage doily coverlet on the lid.
Teapot is 12" tall x 9" wide
Take notice! Both sides are completely different!
Dingle dangle handmade embroidered, tea stained muslin tea bag that says "Tea Time". It even has a fragrant peach smell.
A matching embroidered muslin tab that says,
"Come, let us have some tea and talk about happy things."
Two pearl & silver chains drape from the spout and connect around the handle.
I tied a really really old silver spoon on the side with really really old lace trim. I cut up a shoe and repurposed the diamond trim for such a time as this. You can find this diamond trim down the surface of the spoon and encircling the crystal-type cut teacups.
The square watch face has pearl and silver. Everything is perfectly perfectly matched. The doily wraps all the way around with a couple layered pearlized and sequin wedding dress appliques.
One of my favorite features of this silver teapot, is the teardrop off the spout to simulate flow.
~~~The Decoupaged Silver Platter or Tray~~~
The silver platter is 15" long x 11" wide.
The platter itself has legs on it for elevation. I chalk painted the platter and scruffed it up a bit. All the decoupaging is vintage ephemera. Mostly advertisements of spoons and coffee makers from a 1969 Workbasket craft magazine. I especially like two seperate little sayings on the tray that read;
"Let's have a party, beginning at three.
You choose the tea cups,
I'll pour the tea.
You pick the pastries,
sweet as can be.
I'll toast the friendship
between you and me."
And another which is words of wisdom from the Bible;
" Say only what is good and helpful... and what will give...a blessing."
